Roadmap
BeL2 has an ambitious roadmap aimed at establishing a new global financial system anchored by Bitcoin. Here's an overview of our planned developments for 2024:
Phase 1: Prototype Validation (Q2 2024)
Goal
Verify Bitcoin transaction proofs for seamless interoperability.
Key Developments
- Refine and optimize the Cairo Circuit for generating and verifying BTC transaction proofs.
- Enhance the EVM ZKP Contract for efficient verification of BTC transactions.
- Improve the ZKP BTC Transaction Verifier for dApp integration.
Phase 2: Achieving Decentralization (Q3 2024)
Goal
Implement a staking-based Arbiter network with BTC Full Nodes.
Key Developments:
- Launch the zkBTC Full Nodes network.
- Establish the Arbitrator Network for enhanced security and decentralization.
- Implement the Light Client Verification Solution for efficient Bitcoin transaction verification.
Phase 3: Ecosystem Development (Q4 2024)
Goal
Create a Dapp ecosystem and enable BTC as collateral for loans and stablecoin issuance.
Key Developments:
- Expand partnerships and integrations with more DeFi platforms.
- Launch advanced features such as Native Bitcoin Staking.
- Develop and release SDKs and developer tools for easier integration of BeL2 technology.
- Implement support for NFTs and Ordinals on Bitcoin.
Long-term Vision
Our ultimate goal is to establish BeL2 as a cornerstone of a new global financial system, similar to the historical Bretton Woods system but more robust and decentralized. This includes:
- Expanding the use of Bitcoin in DeFi applications.
- Enhancing the interoperability between Bitcoin and other blockchain networks.
- Developing more use cases for Bitcoin as collateral in various financial instruments.
- Continuing to improve the security, efficiency, and scalability of the BeL2 network.
- Opening up new possibilities for creating and managing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Bitcoin network, including support for Bitcoin Ordinals.
- Introducing Native Bitcoin staking, allowing Bitcoin holders to earn rewards without giving up custody of their BTC.
- Establishing an Arbitrator Network (network made of Arbitrers) as the communication backbone of BeL2 system that will help ensure the system's security and efficiency.
